Ingredients
  

  • 8 hot dogs sliced or whole
  • 2 cups chili homemade or canned
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 8 hot dog buns or crescent roll dough
  • 1/2 cup diced onions optional
  • 1/4 cup sliced jalapeños optional, for spice
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions for garnish
  • non-stick cooking spray for greasing the dish

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9x13-inch casserole dish with non-stick cooking spray.
  • Arrange hot dog buns or crescent roll dough at the bottom of the dish.
  • Place whole or sliced hot dogs evenly over the buns.
  • Pour the chili over the hot dogs, spreading it evenly with a ladle.
  • Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese generously over the top.
  • Optionally, add diced onions and jalapeños for extra flavor.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  • For a crispy cheese topping, broil for an additional 2-3 minutes while keeping a close eye to prevent burning.
  • Let the casserole rest for 5-10 minutes before serving.
  • Garnish with chopped green onions and serve warm.

Notes

For a vegetarian option, use plant-based hot dogs and vegetarian chili. To make it gluten-free, substitute the buns with gluten-free bread or biscuit dough.
